Indianapolis is the largest city in Indiana. It has a number of extensive attractions such as parks and other cultural heritage sites. Indianapolis City continuously increases its magnificent appeal among its tourists. It offers travelers an alternative and unique vacation experience, for people of all ages. Here are some of the places you may want to look on a weekend or month long vacation.

The Children's Museum

The Children's Museum is the world's largest children's museum in Indianapolis. It was founded in 1925 and it offers miniature exhibits and a resource center.

The Children's Museum features a glass sculpture called the Fireworks of Glass made by Dale Chihuly. The first floor showcases an underwater setting of fish tanks, the Dinosaur Discovery Area and an Egyptian Pyramid with a replica of the real mummy. The lower level has a theater, planetarium and an antique train engine while the second level offers two-storey exhibits called Passport to the World. This area presents the different traditions and cultures from around the world.

Visitors can also access the story entitled, "Avenue," an African American community. There are life size mannequins with oral storytelling tradition. Children will love the Carousel Wishes and Dreams Gallery. The real life size indoor carousel is the biggest artifact of the museum. Lastly, The Dinosphere is a place of dinosaur art gallery that features real artifacts and fossils from the Cretaceous period.

Fort Harrison State Park

Fort Harrison State Park is a good venue for a family picnic. It is also the perfect place to go jogging, fishing and walking. The place is also called as the Fort Ben and is located in the northeast section of Indianapolis. The park preserves a Citizen Military Training Camp and the World War II camps.

Fort Harrison is a day park with an 18-hole golf course, hiking trails and VIP housing. Visitors can go horseback riding, hiking and ice fishing.

Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens

Indianapolis Zoo is at the White River State Park accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). It is the home of African elephants, zebras, rhinoceros, dolphins, giraffes and the blue Grand Cayman iguanas. The zoo plays an important role in worldwide conservation and research.

The White River Gardens is a 3.3 acre landmark that connects the plants, animals and people. This botanical attraction offers gardening ideas and plant information. There are thousands of plant species on display with special information exhibit.

President Benjamin Harrison's Home

President Benjamin Homes is a maintained museum that features thousands of books, artifacts and special belongings of the 23rd president. The house wants to increase the public understanding and appreciation of the American system through the life stories of the president.

Gaia Wines Contemporary Winery

Gaia Wines Winery is the 19th winery located at Massachusetts Avenue. The winery provides an educational experience of making a wine. It also features over 150 wine and grape related accessories, gifts and foods. There are also three tasting bays fro private parties. This trip to the winery is for adults.

Track Attack Racing School

The Track Attack Racing School provides a motor sport grounds for people who want to try driving on a real race. The school comes in a small, regular and super sized group package of 5 to 200. It comes with a catering, hospitality race and meeting areas. The karting track is designed in seven turns with two straight-aways on 20,000 square feet of space.

There are special trainers to customize the driving experience. The school also offers a team building program and dealer incentive programs.

Other vacation spots are the Morris-Butler House, Clowes Memorial Hall, Indiana/World Skating Academy and the Scottish Rite Cathedral. People can experience life from the past to the present having these Indianapolis vacations.
