intermittent 2001 VW Golf electrical problem-lights flickering and power shuts off?
anyone else have this problem? I've taken it to the dealer and a separate mechanic and no one can find the problem as it only seems to happen when nobody's looking (except me!).
The car stalls when idling at a stop light and when I turn the ignition off there is a clicking sound and the lights go very dim and flicker very fast. The battery is good and all visible connections are solid. Sometimes it runs fine, without a glitch. Very frustrating. Any advice appreciated, thanks.
You have a bad ground connection between the engine and the chassis. Since the battery and alternator are grounded to the engine and almost everything else is grounded to the chassis, if you don't have a good connection between the two, the electrical stuff goes crazy.
