What is the most blatant foul act have you seen in a Rugby match ?

I remember as a teenager in the 1970s watching on t.v and live some foul play during rugby games.
One incident , I remember is the ABs Grand slam tour of 1978, ABs tour game V Bridgen (Welsh club )
ABs prop John Ashworth stomping all over JPR Williams face in a ruck , blood gushing out of his cheek ( absolute dirty play from Ashworth ! ).
With video refs and assistant refs plus tribunals after a match , the game is much cleaner now .
Do you remember any such foul play past and present that stand out ?

I think the incident you are referring to, was the 2005 Lions tour of NZ.
First test v ABs, O'Driscoll was lifted up out of a ruck by ABs capt Tana Umaga and Hooker Kevin Mealamu and dumped on the ground.Was this foul and dirty play ? My opinion , over vigorous play , but not foul play.

I have lost count of how many times i have heard moaning and groaning about the Odriscoll incident. Its like the biggest event in Lions history and some even use it as an excuse why they lost every game to the All Blacks.
Richie McCaw was dumped head first in a spear tackle by Lote Tuqiri and nearly broke his neck, he brushed it off as an unfortunate incident and it has not been mentioned since. While you Northern hemisphere whingers moan and groan about what could have been, the All Blacks leave all that in the past and worry about what's happening on the scoreboard. Maybe you should do the same it might help you break into the Southern Hemisphere domination at the top of the IRB world rankings
