Projectile Motion help, please!?

I missed the last two days of school for pink eye and these are so confusing!

During World War I, the Germans had a gun
called Big Bertha that was used to shell Paris.
The shell had an initial speed of 0.884 km/s at
an initial inclination of 57.2? to the horizontal.
The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s2 .
How far away did the shell hit? Answer in
units of km.

During a baseball game, a batter hits a pop-
up to a fielder 73 m away.
The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s2 .
If the ball remains in the air for 6.8 s, how
high does it rise? Answer in units of m.

I was hoping if i gave a couple examples, i could figure them out on my own. Your help is greatly appreciated

I may be able to give you some hints about solving the first problem.

You start by assuming that air resistance and friction in the gun barrel do not affect the movement of the shell (allowed/encouraged in school physics) That means that the only force acting on the shell is gravity (a constant accelerated movement). Also assume that the heights of the touch down point and the "firing point" are the same.

Now you use the initial speed and the inclination to calculate the vertical speed (recapitulate the meanings of sinus and cosinus - that will get you on the way).

Use the initial vertical speed to calculate the time "t" it takes for the shell to come down again. (there is a formula that combines "x", a, v(initial) and t - find it in your book).

Now use the initial speed and the inclination to calculate the horizontal speed (similar to calculation of the vertical speed). Since gravity is the only force at play this will be a motion at constant speed. Use the time "t" calculated before to calculate how far the shell hits, and that's it.

Unfortunately i know nothing about baseball, but the second problem looks as an exercise in the same formula as above. I haven't a clue as to what is happening to the ball, except that it is in the air for 6.8 s.
