im looking for a new driver and seeing as callaway is a great brand i chose these. im an intermediate golfer but when it comes to driving the ball wiht my r580xd (taylormade) im terrible so i want to know which driver is the best.

it all depends on your strength and your swing they are both good clubs but i personally prefer the taylormade. if you really want to know what is the best for you, you can go to a fitting where they will tell you the best clubs and balls for you. this is usually at most golf stores.

Also, all my friends that r good at golf told me not to buy a driver, just get a 3 wood instead, should I follow there advice?
If so, I'm going to get the Callaway Hyper X 3 wood. 15 degree right?

I would get a driver and not be afraid of it. A 3wood is "easier" to hit, but the same mistakes you make with the Driver, you will make on the 3w. Plus, the newer drivers are so forgiving that the old adage of starting with a 3W is no longer as applicable. Personally, I would get a driver, something like the Cleveland HyborXL or the TM Burner (not the tour burner or the new burner that just came out.) Then get a 3 Hybrid, its easier to hit than the 3w and IMHO, a better more useful club for beginners than a 3w (its easier to hit off the fairway than the 3w and just as beneficial off the tee.)
