Since the Lotus Elan S1 was made public in early 1960, it soon became apparent that the drive line will not stand up to vigorous driving, a lot of stories about the fearless driver Elan aground miles away from the workshop with a broken rubber error or metalastic joint, and the change meets the road side is not a way to spend time with your girl friend in the Lotus Elan ... not sireee.

The initial cost of conversion of Lotus Elan in CV drive system is high, but the initial cost is fully offset by the long-term maintenance and replacement of donuts.

Another important factor to consider when installing solid CV drive shaft in the Lotus Elan is the simplicity of installation, as well as a system will require the removal of old intermediate shafts and donuts, the new system simply offered to internal and external drive flanges, the normal tools and spanners all that is needed to tension up high tensile fixing.
If the drive shaft kit you require anything other than ordinary tools for installation, and requires the dismantling of the rear suspension of your Elan, the total cost of installation would be much higher than the original cost because of the need to pay for the services of a professional installation engineer.
