Golf Tight
PGA Tour rookie Rickie Fowler of Murrieta plays with an edge
The 21-year-old learned the hard way that golf was better for him than off-road motorcycling. But even within confines of a less violent sport, he still favors bold choices, in both shot and clothing Rickie Fowler is unafraid to wear a white belt or an orange golf shirt or to keep his hair long. He is willing to be creative with an iron shot, and why not?

It may seem hard to believe but one of the most important golf tips with regards to the swing is the Grip. Gripping the club too tight or even too loose, gripping the wrong way or in the wrong place on the handle, could spoil your entire swing. A bad grip will eventually cause you loss of power and accuracy of your swing and for the more advanced golfer can lose control of the shape of the shots so, to develop good golf swing techniques you need a correct grip.
There are primarily two types of grips that a golfer should use the interlocking grip, which is where the golfer slides his left index finger between the third & forth fingers of the right hand. The overlapping grip occurs when the golfer lays his left index finger on top of his right forth finger or on top of the notch between his third and forth fingers. These grips allow the hands to hold the club steady while cocking and rolling the wrists throughout the swing.
How tight you should hold the grip of the club is debatable and there is no hard and fast rule. Most golfers prefer a loose grip yet firm enough to keep it from moving in your hands. When you swing a club it is only natural that extra force will be applied to the grip so you have to try and remember on your set up, loose grip, loose grip. As there is no prescribed rule on how tight the grip needs to be, it is an aspect of the game that you will have to experiment with and adjust through practice and play.
Over the years I have taken various levels of golf swing instruction and at the time they did improve my game. I recall one professional, who spotted a flaw in my swing whereby I was turning my right hand inwards, which was closing the face and causing a poorly distanced hook. To overcome this he got me to develop a grip so far advanced around the golf club that it was impossible to turn my hands because my arms were twisted as far as they could go. It certainly cured the hooked tee shot but caused other problems. The next professional did exactly the opposite almost to the point where I barely had grip of the club. In the end I have reverted to a standard grip, which I have practiced and practiced and I have found that as long as I am comfortable with the grip than my short is more or less ok.
With constant practice, the grip is one aspect of the game that will becomes second nature and not something you will dwell upon. It is a part of the swing preparation that will require very little thought. It should however, never be forgotten especially as a beginner. One tip is to keep a club nearby to constantly practice with.
My game improved enourmously once I obtained a guide off the internet called 'The Simple Swing'. Visit my website at http://www.simple-golf-tips.com for free tips and recommendations on improving your game.
