Not long ago I attended a class reunion. Those are interesting events because you get to see a lot of people who you knew when you were a kid. For me it was especially interesting because my old high school English teacher was there -- the same one who threatened to flunk me because of my poor performance in his class!
Let me share something with you that I don't often tell many people. I have dyslexia. I'm not trying to use that as a crutch or as some excuse for more time or extra help. I'm just saying, I wasn't really going to English class with a full set of marbles, if you know what I'm trying to say.
Unfortunately, through a mix of dyslexia and good-old-fashioned laziness, I managed to come really close to failing English class. I was able to pull myself together and pass -- but by a slim margin. So it was incredibly ironic when the Alumni chairperson recognized me for a recent $5,000 donation I made to the school to help them upgrade their computer equipment. The fellow said I was a "book publisher." My old English teacher couldn't believe it! I had to clarify that my company is only involved with electronic book publishing, but still, the amazed look on his face was priceless.
So if you're sitting there wondering how the heck you'll launch and grow an eBook publishing company -- let me be your inspiration. Trust me, if I can do this, anybody can.
