Sunshine Coast, November 4, 2009 – Barely a month before they meet in Copenhagen, Denmark, to thrash out a sustainable long-term solution to the threat of global warming, leaders of most countries find themselves between a rock and a hard place. They must come up with proof that their countries are on target to meet their emissions reduction quotas or else pay stiff punitive fines. But they cannot immediately cut back on the use of fossil fuels [coal and oil - the main greenhouse-gas producers]; that would be political and economic suicide. Shutting down power plants, for instance, would lead to massive direct and indirect unemployment as well as a slowdown in the national economy.
But what if they could do both, reduce carbon emissions as well as retain [or even increase] employment rates?
EcoEnforcers, a Queensland, Australia based company, claims to have come up with a sustainable renewable energy solution that satisfies both requirements, in the short as well as long term. Their urban renewable energy process actually helps increase available energy supply while simultaneously reducing carbon emissions. And their aptly named 'EcoEstates' will increase employment opportunities in a host of industries. According to Mr.Jarreau Terry , Founder and CEO, their process, "not only addresses the future of urban renewable base load power supply, but also the community's need for providing 'green' jobs, high quality fresh produce [fruits, vegetables, seafood], affordable accommodation, and a number of by-products that put the entire venture into a positive position. It is a global solution to urban renewable energy using a biomass hybrid battery technology to produce 2 x 1MW of power, 1MW for the fully designed "EcoEstates" and 1 MW put into the grid."
According to the company's formula, a major polluting country like the U.S. could add 140GW [that's 140 billion watts] of totally green power to its grid at just one dollar per watt. The company has formulas for nearly every country, including major polluters such as China, India, Indonesia, etc.
What about the employment generation promised? In the U.S., that 140GW would come from 140,000 EcoEstates. Each EcoEstate would create between 100 and 400 direct 'green' collar jobs. That's at least 14 million jobs in the U.S., possibly 56 million jobs. These jobs would include manufacturing EcoEnforcers industrial products, construction of the EcoEstates, maintenance, medical care, and food- and water-related jobs. There's the indirect stimulus for the steel, cement, glass, furnishings and fittings industries. This would lead to higher employment rates, which would stimulate economic growth both nationally and locally.
In the words of Mr. Terry: "EcoEnforcers will lead the global economy for climate change. Nations within nations will prosper, and single-handedly be withdrawn from the global financial crisis. A momentous occasion that will inevitably re-define the Twenty-First Century."
Rather than dithering until it is too late, those national leaders need to take some positive steps. The winners of the 21st Century will be those nations that have the foresight and courage to venture into new technology. Urban renewable energy is the fast, 'green' and most reliable solution to the climate change crisis.
