Basic golf swing tips may simply be all you that you require to keep you from striking those heavy shots, hooks, or slices. For instance, merely shifting the ball location may set right that thin shot, which you tend to hit off the tee. Rather than getting dejected and vowing never again to turn up at a golf course, contemplate on a couple of tips regarding golf swing and strive at perfecting your golf swing.

Now tips on golf swing can be collected from a number of sources. A fine place to begin is with recent golf books or golf magazines. Here it is possible for you to come across golf swing tips from experts or teachers and instructors of professional golfers. Orders for magazines and books containing tips on golf swing can be placed online.

In case you are extremely earnest regarding getting a few vital tips regarding golf swing, and you possess the necessary money and the time at your disposal, think about registering for a few golf lessons or joining a golf clinic where a professional gives you expert advice.

In order to put you on the track of learning the appropriate golf swing tips, the following are some golf swing tips, which deal with the fundamentals of a golf swing.

1. Amongst the most vital tips on golf swing is to maintain a square clubface. Hitting the golf ball by means of a square clubface ensures that the ball goes straight and a long way. In order to maintain the clubface square, you require to keep a steady golf swing plane. Practice bringing the golf club right back and subsequently follow through on the very same swing plane.

2. Next, timing is of the essence in the case of your golf swing. Now you may wish to possess a steady swing speed all through the whole swing. In fact it does not help out with your golf swing if you tend to bring the golf club right back slowly and then speed up right through your swing.

3. Then, golf fitness is an essential factor for developing your golf swing. Doing some easy golf exercises can vastly enhance litheness and power.

4. The kind of golf grip that you have is a further factor in honing your golf swing. Ensure that you do not have a very rigid golf grip, or else it will hamper your golf swing action. A fine way of determining whether your golf grip remains very tight is if your arms and hands become sore after you have finished playing a game of golf.

5. In fact, the best tip on golf swing may not exactly be to your liking but it is nothing but practice, and more practice, that will assist you with your golf swing the most. The greater the time devoted to practicing, or being out there on the practice green or driving range, the greater the development you will find not just in the golf swing, but also in your total performance as well as scoring.

There are a lot of different and effective tips that are helpful when learning how to swing a golf club. Yes this is true, but everyone needs to get started somewhere and even the professional golfers like Tiger Woods were beginners once and had to learn how to play the game. Fortunately there are a few basic tips on how to swing a golf club that are really best to get started with. Even the pros had to start somewhere.

One thing that anyone learning how to swing a golf club needs to know is that the grip is the best area to focus on first. These are grip, posture, backswing, downswing, and follow through. To use this grip you want to take the little finger on your trailing hand which would be the right hand if you are right handed, and then intertwine this with the thumb on the opposite hand. There are a few different grips that can be used but the interlocking grip is one that is most commonly relied on, and for this you interlock the pinky finger on your right hand with the index finger on your left.

There are other aspects involved with learning how to swing a golf club as well. The backswing is the part of the golf swing that is preparing you for hitting the ball on the downswing. It can take some practice and you may need to have a different stance when learning how to swing a golf club depending on whether you are left or right handed. One of the best tips to remember on the backswing when you are learning how to swing a golf club is to always keep your eye on the golf club throughout the backswing.

The downswing is the part of the golf swing when you are coming down from the backswing and making contact with the ball. You should always start your downswing by shifting your body weight from your rear to your front leg. Staying balanced is extremely important here otherwise your aim is going to be off and the ball is going to end up somewhere other than where you were planning on. Your body weight should be evenly balanced from top to bottom and back and forth.

Did you know that the average golfer's gross score is 107 shots? If you've hit with your golf driver perfectly one time, you can do it every time; you have a perfect, proper golf swing, just develop it. And now is always the time to fix an unpredictable golf swing.

Positive thinking and positive energy you send out will influence your game, just as negative thinking and therefore negative energy will affect it also. Understanding your golf swing is one of the first steps you can take toward swing improvement. Don't worry about what others think or say about your swing if it isn't up to snuff; work to improve it at your own speed. Golf also requires tough mental fitness as well as physical fitness and this is often overlooked.

When you swing, use muscles in your legs and trunk. Ask your golf pro to evaluate your posture and biomechanics while you are swinging. At the end of a backswing the hands should be above the right shoulder with the golf club pointing more or less in the intended direction of the ball flight.

And sidespin occurs when the clubface is not properly aligned perpendicularly to the plane of the swing and make sure not to grip the golf club too tightly. Accomplished golfers purposely use sidespin to ultimately steer the ball around obstacles or head toward the safe side of fairways and greens.

When you swing, if you have problems with your left knee buckling, imagine holding a soccer ball between your knees. The backswing is a simple rotation to the right, consisting of a shifting of the player's body weight to the right side, turning of the pelvis and shoulders, lifting of the arms and flexing of the elbows and wrists. It is difficult for a golfer to practice hitting shots longer than short pitch shots, unless of course, one pays to play golf or pays to practice at a driving range or indoor golf training facility.

The most important thing about the golf swing is the angle, not the strength that is applied to it, that's one of many swing secrets. Ideally putts and short chips are played without much movement of the body, but almost all other golf shots are played using variants of the full golf swing.

Consistent workouts will change your golf game forever. Turn to golf exercise and techniques if you want to gain more strength and power. To prevent injury and improve your swing speed and distance requires your body to be strong and flexible. Most golfers don't know there are techniques that will greatly affect swing mechanics; you can get an edge by changing your approach.

Overall, investing in golf swing trainers will greatly improve your swing and your game. There are a wide range of golf swing aids and analyzers on the market today to help the beginning and advanced golfer improve swing techniques. Keep in mind that with some golf swing trainers, you will probably still need help from an expert.

Sporting goods stores also carry golf swing trainers and aids to improve your game. There are golf swing trainers that will help you with your swing alignment. There are lots of good golf swing aids on the market today.

Before buying any aid or trainer for your swing, check with a pro to get an idea of what problem you need to work on first; for example, backlift of golf swing, momentum of downward thrust or stance. Golf swing trainers and aids can often be found online and are often discounted or much cheaper. Be cautious about any claims in TV commercials and magazine ads; seek expert advice before you buy because the claims may not be reasonable.

If you apply combined mental and physical workouts, your reward will be super, proper, perfect golf swing improvement. Consider a golf vacation, maybe a Myrtle Beach vacation package, or a Las Vegas vacation to get in more practice and if you can't take your golf clubs and golf accessories with you, you should be able to easily rent golf clubs, golf bags, golf carts and golf cart covers or any other golf accessories at any golf resort. Having a good plan and working on specific aspects of the swing or game should be your goal.

Try to concentrate on one of the weaknesses in your swing at a time. Make sure to find and use good golf swing trainers to help improve your game. And you're sure to achieve a perfect, super, proper golf swing every time.

Ask any golfer on the green for some golf tips and they will tell you, "everything matters." The course matters. The air matters. The grass matters. The clubs, shoes, humidity, noise and tee time all matter. But the thing that matters most is the swing. Golf begins and ends with the proper golf swing.

Golf swing instructions are essential to learning not only the basics of the sport but to achieving any kind of success on the course. If you go into any pro shop, whether they offer free golf tips or paid professional golf instructions, you are going to learn about the swing. A proper golf swing involves the entire body working towards a unified purpose.

Head and Shoulders:

"Keep your eye on the ball," is one of the most famous free golf tips you will ever hear. However many professionals providing golf swing instructions advise the golfer to fix their eyes at a point near the ball that aligns directly with where they want the ball to go. To provide maximum energy to the arms your head should stay still and move only during the natural follow-through of your swing.

Observing the physics of a golf swing would indicate the power for forward motion comes from the shoulders. However the power in a proper golf swing comes from the abdomen and is transferred through the shoulders to drive the ball forward. Golf tips often stress the shoulders should keep the chest in an open posture and roll through the swing not bend or jerk. Restrictions or stiffness in the shoulders can cause the golfer to pull up on the swing and reduce the distance traveled by the ball.

The Grip:

A functional and comfortable grip is required for the perfect golf swing. New golfers often find the correct grip to feel awkward however golf swing instructions never waver on the point. Depending on your dominant hand the club should rest against the palm of your opposite hand and be held somewhat loosely at the fingertips with the heel of your hand providing pressure. The dominant hand should then be placed in the same position creating a V with the thumb and index fingers.

In a proper golf swing the dominant index finger is the one that guides the club directionally through the swing. The physics of the swing works in such a way that the V created by the grip should point between your right shoulder and your chin. This helps align the head and neck and focus the power of the swing. A common theme in golf instructions is that the grip should never be tight but strong enough to adequately hold the club.

Posture:

Essential to maintaining linear energy in a proper golf swing is correct posture. The golfer should ensure that they are bending at the waist and not the back or the shoulders. A golf swing driven from the back or shoulders is one of the main reasons for injury when playing golf. Golf instructions advise participants to bend foreword from the hip socket until the arms can swing freely through the chest area.

Another mistake new golfers make in attempting a perfect golf swing is to stiffen their legs as they approach the ball. The legs should be held loosely and the golfer should flex at the knee slightly to aid in the physics of the swing. The knee should never cross the tips of the foot but be flexible enough to allow smooth body movement. On the follow-through of the swing the knee should be able to pivot to allow the body to stay aligned.

Pace:

Golf instructors frequently remind golfers than a faster swing does not equal a farther drive. There is a pace to golf that relies more on a slow and steady tempo than a fast, jerky motion. One of the most common golf tips you will hear is to not jerk your swing.

The way to set your tempo for a proper golf swing is to start with the backswing. A slower backswing with a fluid even motion will result in concentrated force as it comes forward to meet the ball. After your body is aligned correctly in front of the ball, bringing the club back at a slow enough pace that you can see the club head leaving the surface area. As you are raising the club through the backswing, concentrate the physical power from your abdomen through your aligned body to the shoulders which then roll forward extending the power through the club to the ball.

The follow-through should maintain the same even tempo as the energy is released driving the ball forward. At that point the shoulders roll through the body and the head can rise to allow the neck and arms to release the momentum.

By mastering the basic elements of a proper golf swing a new golfer will soon find themselves enjoying their sport and achieving success on the green.

Help answer the question about Golf Swing
How much torque (N m) does a golf swing put on the average person/Tiger's knee? What can I compare this to?
As is obvious to anyone who has seen Tiger swing a club, he puts a tremendous amount of torque on the knee he is getting surgery on. I am wondering if there are exact measurements as to how much torque people, particularly Tiger, put on their knee during a golf swing. As I am relatively unfamiliar with physics, I would also appreciate a comparison of that measurement to something understandable.

Lots of golfers like to play golf on their vacation, and for many it's practically the sole function of the vacation itself. The good news is that there are plenty of great golf packages and vacations to choose from that will fit almost any budget. But before booking your next golf package, here are a few tips to help make sure that you get the most out of your golf vacation.

It may be tempting to arrange a golf package that lets you play in some of the same courses that the pros play every year, but before you rush out and make your reservations, consider how well your skill level at the game will match the golf course where you would be playing. In other words, if a golf course is a challenge for a pro to play on, how much more difficult do you think it's going to be for the average golfer, or maybe even a beginner?

It's always nice to be able to say that you have played this course or that course, but isn't it more important to have fun when you're on your vacation? And if the golf course is so difficult that it is way over your head, how much fun are you really going to have while playing the game? These are good questions to ask yourself before you make your travel plans.

An idea that could produce a nice compromise is to schedule a golf vacation in an area where there is a wide variety of golf courses available. This will allow you to choose the type of course that you wish to play on a daily basis, instead of just locking you into one very difficult course for the whole extent of your golf vacation. There are actually several places across the country that have this kind of variety of golf courses available including Myrtle Beach, Orlando FL, and Phoenix AZ. Doing a little online research can usually help you line up the courses that you would like to play on during your visit.

If you decide to schedule your golf vacation for the off-season in a particular area, be fully prepared before you go. There is a good reason why a particular time of the year is considered off-season for that golf course. Most of the time it has to do with the weather during that time of year. So, although you can save a lot of money on off-season golf packages, just be aware of the possible drawbacks and plan accordingly. This may call for you to take with you appropriate clothing for the season in order to be comfortable. This can mean heavier clothing in the cooler climates, or very light clothing in the hot climates such as Florida. And you may also want to be sure that there are other attractions and points of interest in the area to make your vacation fun even if the weather prevents you from playing as much golf as you had planned.

Another very important consideration for those who do not travel alone, or who may have others along on the trip who do not play golf, is to be sure that wherever your golf destination is, there are plenty of other activities in that area to make the trip enjoyable even for those who are not golfers. If you're taking your family along on a golf vacation, this will become extremely important. You want to be sure that there are enough points of interest in the area to cover all the age groups represented in your family. Remember, your vacation will not be very fun if everybody else is miserable.

Many people look forward to golf vacations for months in advance, as they are a great way to relax and enjoy yourself at the same time. And practicing some of the steps mentioned in this article can help ensure that your golf package vacation will be a success.

Free Golf Tips For Amateur Golfers

Fortunately for the amateur golfers, trade secrets are not kept but shared with others freely. Since golf is more than just a game to spend some quality time with a prospective business customer, dishing out free golf tips could be just what you need to clench the deal. It has been quite a while since you saw a golfer with chequered pants up to his knees on and long white socks, so maybe the wife of the last golfer gave him some free golf tips on his attire, that his style of clothing went out with the ark and that just wearing a plain pants and collared tee-shirt was also fine.

Another useful one of the host of free golf tips is to always wear some sun coverage with the use of a peak cap, you not only prevent your head and face from burning, but it also keeps the sun out your eyes when it is time to hit off, so that you can focus better and not worry about the glare. Besides the most important of all free golf tips for the attire, is to wear the appropriate golfing shoes that are comfortable for you, as you are on your feet the whole day long.

Besides the free golf tips on clothing there are also bunches or hoards of free golf tips on how to actually play the game itself. Now to try and get free golf swing tips out of a professional on your first day may seem quite difficult, after getting to know the other player may help you later on. Once you are in with all the other players who are more experienced than you, you will soon discover the fountains of free golf tips all around you.

After paying so much money for the golf tuition, you never seemed to get any free golf tips then, so what is the difference here? Here you are to play, and unlike before hand your trainer got paid and the longer he took to train you the more money he made. It would help if one of your parents played golf, and if you showed enough initiative would be allowed to play the game with them too.

But as time goes on, you too will have to pass your knowledge and skills on to the other armatures that step on the course to challenge you to a friendly game or two. But the person who should be most considered for wisdom of the game of golf is still the caddy.

When you were a kid you parents could take you on the odd occasion to the putt-putt course, and maybe you just had it in you then already to know that you could be a good golfer one day. You have already seem to have the immediate knack of how hard to hit and with a bit of mathematics you automatically just hit the ball in the hole every time.

With having a parent or some guidance you can be sure of it that you will be getting all the golf tips you could ever need, right on hand. And since there are so many, the lessons on golf tips would never seem to come to an end, until you perfected the manoeuvre.

Your experienced parent will be glad to pass on all the golf tips they possibly could, being your mentor is one thing a parent can relish in. Whenever you go and practice the first of the golf tips would be the golf swing tips, if it seems you just want to hit off all the time. Since you can still injure yourself on the golf course, listening to those giving you golf tips could only prevent injury and improve your game. Playing a good game of golf means knowing what you are doing, and all the golf tips you get, help.

From the way the golf club is held to the way you stand and of course how to hit the ball. Hitting the ball is not as simple as it seems if you have to compare it from the putt-putt course to the real golf course. A lot of mental mathematical adjustments and justifications have to be made before you get the hang of it.

When you finally do get the hang of the game, you would have learnt to appreciate all those golf tips that you got day in and day out. But if you are already set in your own ways, the idea of following someone else’s golf tips could be a major obstacle. It will take time to adjust to the new ways of doing things, since your methods were working just fine on the putt-putt course originally, but not any more on the golf course.

Since there is a lot to consider when playing a game of golf, playing on a putt-putt course once again would seem easy. You would have to consider the terrain firstly and of course you would also have to consider the wind direction as this would influence where your ball may land too.

How To Chip The Ball: A Simple Technique (Part 2)

Always stick to the basics when performing the bump and run chip shot. With your stance in place and your weight shifted on the front foot, it's time to make the swing.

On this type of shot you really want to avoid making too much of a divot. The club should hit the ball while it is accelerating, not slowing down. If your swing digs into the ground then it is likely to cause the clubhead to slow and your hopeful chip shot then turns into a bumbled fat shot.

Visualize hitting both the ball and the ground at once, with your wrists firm, while making a clean sweep of the club through the contact zone – then make it happen, just like described.

Flop Shot Basic Technique

When a flop shot is in order, make your stance practically identical to the bump and run stance. The only changes are that your feet should be closer together and your stance slightly more open. You may have differing adjustments than my recommended stance, and that is just fine so long as you adhere to the basic principles of what I am describing here.

Because I like to open my stance up a little more than most golfers, it allows me to play the ball far in the front and produces more loft. This means that I will be able to hit the ball with more height while reducing the amount of roll when it lands.

To hit the flop shot correctly the ball should be sitting just on top of the fluff of grass. This means that the shot is easier to hit when the ball is in the rough rather than on closely-trimmed fairway. And of course you need to pop the ball up (which requires that you hit under the ball). When playing on nicely cut grass, it is too easy to mess up and hit the ground first.

Last Minute Chipping Tips

Here are three key things to keep in mind whenever you are making a chip shot:

1) Never pass on the bump and run shot if you have a clear, smooth pathway in between your ball and the hole.

2) Not every chip shot has the same conditions so if you need less roll and more height on the ball, consider using a higher lofted club. The sand wedge or the pitching wedge are good choices. And for less hight and more roll, look to the 7 or 8 iron.

How To Chip The Ball: A Simple Technique (Part 1)

Mastering your short game can be as simple or as hard as you make it. Common complexities do exist, sure, but most new golfers make too many mountains out of molehills when the best approach to take is to just...

Keep It Simple!

Let's discuss the simple approach to the chip shot. When it comes to the bare-bones-basics of chipping the ball, your technique should be a simple routine that can be used over and over again with simplicity.

Why? Because by using a straight-forward routine that can be implemented with ease, and for shot after shot, you will make better progress and your overall skill level will increase at a faster pace.

Too many new golfers end up spinning their wheels for months, some even years, due to their inability to stick with a basic swing technique for different shots. Make it a personal commitment to “not be that guy” on the course. Learn the game, keep your swings simple, and stick to the basics - especially when it comes to your chip shots.

A Simple Bump And Run Approach

The bump and run is the easiest chip shot to make. You should use a less-lofted club for this shot, something in the range of your 6, 7 or 8 iron. Your stance should be different than your normal iron shot. Standard iron shots require about a shoulder-width foot placement. But chip shots should be made with an open stance and your feet tightly closer together.

Now to hit your bump and run what I advise is to move the ball back further within your stance as opposed to the normal iron shot stance. This little trick helps swing the club with less loft because your stance is open and you are playing the ball back. The ball will be kept low to the ground and the open stance helps keep the leg power out of the swing (you do not want full leg power due to the short distance of this shot).

By using too much leg power you have the tendency to sacrifice accuracy. The short game is all about technique, not power. Professional golfers know this. They have hundreds of different strategies for playing the short game and it shows.

Remember to keep most of your weight on the front foot. Your hands should be approximately three inches ahead of the ball when you are set up. The result is a crisp, clean bump and run with a happy chip shot ending.

Golfers beginners to professionals are constantly looking to get better at the game of golf. And it goes without saying that one of the core cores to great golf is a great swing. A careful analysis of how you swing your club can make significant adjustments to your game. Eradicati what you are doing wrong and improving what you are doing right will create significant and cumulative shave strokes offments.

There are certain fundamental elements to the swing that even the pros often take for granted. As you peruse this article you'll find these tips will make measurable if sometimes modest shave strokes offments that accumulate to lowering your score.

Let's start with your stance. The chief thing you want to do is to make sure that you are steady yet relaxed. If your posture is uptight and rigid, then there is an increased chance that your swing won't arc and follow through the way you want it to.

After you are in a comfortable and relaxed position with your club securely gripped, you'll also want to make sure that your feet are solidly planted about a shoulder's width apart. A lot of golfers are tempted to raise their heels up when they swing, but this leads to a poor swing. If you are lifting your heels up while you swing, this tends to alter your center of gravity and negatively impacts the velocity of your swing. It is now obvious, your posture is one of the most important aspects here.

To gain consistency in you swing, your must practice regularly. Even if you are a person who only golfs a couple times a month, it's still important to practice. Even when you are just golfing for fun, it's even more fun when you do better. You won't be able to see any real results unless you dedicate a portion of your time to mastering your swing. You should feel confident in whichever one you choose.

One of the big obstacles that golfers who live in the upper (cold) half of the United States face is the inability to play golf during the snow and cold of winter. However, in many of these areas, homes are built with basements that if they have a high enough ceiling can be a great place to set up practice golf balls and net, a golf mat which will allow you to swing away.

Another great alternative is to use a golf simulator. These can dramatically shave strokes off your swing as they provide feedback you need to make the small but impactful changes to get better. And the great thing is that these golf simulators are now quite inexpensive and can hook up to a simple laptop. Find simulators and other great golf equipment at many online golf stores.

Finally, if it's your spouse who golfs, don't forget that a good video on swing improvement, a practice net or golf simulator all make gifts for golfers which he (or she) will love for years to come.

Pitch Shot Or Chip Shot: What Should You Do?

As you may already know, the chip shot and the pitch shot are two completely different things. To put it in simple terms, chips shots are a regular part of your short game (like putting) and pitch shots tend to “set up” your short game.

Pitch shots are usually knocked around with your pitching wedge (or a sand wedge) from anywhere from 35 yards away to almost 100 yards away. They are very close to a standard iron shot.

Chip shots, on the other hand, are routinely made closer to the green within 25 to 30 yards and come in various forms. For example, you can game a chip shot with any club you like, from a low-number iron all the way to your sand wedge (depending on the conditions of your shot).

All varieties of the chip shot can be narrowed to two basic groups: The “bump and run” and the “flop shot”.

1. The bump and run: The bump and run describes a chip shot that is made when you have flat, open grass in between your set up and the green. This is one of those golfing terms that literally means what it says: A shot that is bumped low and rolls the majority of it's way towards its destination.

2. The flop shot: The second category of chips shots is known as the flop shot. Some golfers also refer to is as a “lob shot”. This type of chip shot becomes necessary when facing obstacles like a water hole, sand; anything that gets in the way of being able to roll the ball toward its destination. Flop shots reach skyward quickly then drop straight down to the ground. There should only be a slight roll, if any at all.

The easiest chip shot from these two choices is always going to be the bump and run, for obvious reasons. It's must easier to swing into play because the stroke is very similar to a putt, which means less chance of making a mistake.

Flop shots, on the other hand, are a tougher cookie to crumble because it is easier to mess up the shot. You could easily hit a fat shot or top the ball because you must open up the clubface and hit with a slice from underneath the ball. You can always tell the inexperienced golfer on the course because these chip shots never usually end well. But with enough practice they turn into successful swings that will impress your playing partners.

The Number 1 Reason Why Your Score Is Not Improving

What does practice mean to you when it comes to improving your golf game?

Most of you probably never practice outside of the actual course. Others spend the entire time on the driving range hitting long drives. Either way, the truth is that you are doing very little to actually lower your score and improve the shots that really count at the end of a game.

So what is it about hitting those powerful long drives that make us happy? Some of these shots will slice, while others will actually fly straight and hit the target. While this makes us happy at some level, deep inside we know that spending all day hitting long balls at the range is not the best use of our practice time.

Most of you reading this are interested in living up to your fullest potential at the game. Becoming the best we can, within our abilities, is what separates those that improve from those that just drudge along, hitting the same low score year in and year out. We want to have our best score, we want to hit those impressive shots that make our friends look on with envy.

Perhaps your goal is to shoot 90, or how about 80? Maybe you are trying to reach a score of 75 or 70. Whatever your new goals are, there is no way to get there without making the short game a priority when it comes to practice. Some people of course get a rush from hitting all of those repetitive, ego-driving long drives, but then their scorecard never dips below 100, they are not so happy anymore.

The Value Is Around the Green

More value comes from the shots that are made around the green. The accuracy and technique needed to make these shots into a winning strategy is far more important than what is needed for a drive. A hole may be as far as 390 or more yards away, and a long drive may get the ball to the 200 yard mark, which is great, but what will get the ball into the hole are your tougher shots – the pitches, the flops, and the chips.

I've seen scores drop from the high 90s down to the mid-to-low 80s just from players who shaved off a few points by spending extra moments each week on chipping, or a few 15 minute sessions during the week with putting. Such improvements may seem minor but your handicap can be dramatically reduced.

Planning Your Practice Sessions

Not everyone has the luxury of planning out long practice sessions to improve their golf game. Most of us have very busy schedules, long work hours, and family commitments - so even a 30 minute window is a welcomed opportunity. You must use your time wisely.

Regardless if you only have 30 minutes, or a half day to practice golf, the key is to properly plan your sessions. It would not be wise to spend all of your 30 minutes hitting drives.

Always include small increments of your time to hitting specific shots - five minutes on chipping, another five on pitching, maybe ten minutes on bunker shots, another five minutes on your fifty yard shots – are all examples of a plan of action towards practice with the time you have.

Everyone that I know who has ever played golf, and became serious about improving their score, has all shared the same goal of busting through the 100 score level at some point.

Chances are high that you too are in this same position. In fact, most players that hit the course these days have not even broke the 100 score mark, at least not consistently.

There is no doubt that this is an important goal for you and by getting there means that you have reached a special point in your golf game. Not only will you feel more confident, you will also gain the respect of your friends and other players on the course.

When I reached the upper 90s in my score on a regular basis, the feeling that I could best describe it would be that I actually “felt” like a real player.

Very few golfers I know at my local course break 90, but those that do have told me that it feels like they could take on the world, win matches, and enter club tournaments!

Must you break 90 to be considered a good player? Not at all! Becoming better is the key, and is different for every one of you, so do not get hung up on numbers. However, for those of you who have been playing for a while and are ready to say goodbye to the 100 mark, we have some great tips to get you started.

Simple Math

Setting up yourself to accomplish goals in golf means starting with a plan. So let's look at simple numbers. There are 18 holes on the course. If your goal was to knock the ball into each hole in 5 shots then your score would be 90. This easily breaks down your goal into smaller accomplishments for each hole.

Of course you do not have to make 5 on each hole in order to maintain this goal. Some may be higher, some lower, but the overall plan of action is the same. The key is to stay positive even when some of your holes do not go according to plan. Even Tiger Woods plays with more pars than he does birdies.

Par Is Not An Average Score

A huge mistake most golfers make is comparing their game to the professionals. As mentioned above, Tiger Woods does not always make his best shots, which means you need to be able to improve even when you go above par on some holes.

I want you to ponder this question: If you think that par is considered an “average” score for most players, and the par on the average course totals 72, then does that mean that you should be hitting 72 each and every time just to be considered “average”?

If your answer is yes then I expect you to stop reading this article and sign up for the U.S. Open! In other words, forget equaling par with being average. The best advice is to set up par on the course at the level you play, not at the level of a professional. This way you will accomplish what you have been wanting to accomplish - which is to shoot a total score under par and break 100.

Golf putting is a kind of an art, not every golfer can putt perfectly. If you work you're putting techniques more than you work with your golf swing, you will start save strokes. Golf putting is a matter of feeling. What do you feel?

Golf putting is nearly the half of the golf game. So it makes sense for you to work more with your putting stroke? The put stroke is much about feeling, but there is also some technique involve, about the feeling you have the pace of the stroke, is it going down hill, or a up hill put , reading the fall in the green and the grain in the grass.

Grain on the grass should give more resistance, therefore a less feet distance and the ball will stop. Striking the ball with the grain there is less resistance, and the ball will move faster.

About the techniques there is quite a lot different way's of putting technique, but a quick golf tip is to keep the putter head square on the line to the hole in impact, and keep your eyes steady on the ball also after you have hit the ball true all the swing. All these thinks are important, and when done properly, they become into one "feel".

Golf putting is a very important part of golf play. Don't think about t to read the green until you become good with the pace of the ball to the right distance.

Golf putting can be a big frustrating of a golfers game. If he has a good golf putting ability, he can finish he's game well. Golf putting is just a series of individual skills like pitching and chipping but until you get the skills in place, putting can be a very frustrating.

Putting is its oven game in the play that only few golfer's truly is good at. It's where five feet can feel like 210 yards and the good days and bad days are separated by 5-15 strokes.

Putting is its own. It's more sensory, tactile, than any other golf stroke. Its round feel, stroke, speed and distance. Putting is more than just hitting on a straight line; it is a serious part of feel and technique. Golf putting can create more trouble for you than good is.

If you're a normal golfer, you have been on the hunt for your best golf putting. Overall, investing in putting lessons will greatly improve your putting and your golf game.

How To Become An Expert In The Bunker

The best shot to take out of any sandy situation is the splash shot. However, there are times when exploding the ball, although a common shot for golfers that are unskilled in the splash shot, is actually the better strategy.

Such examples when the explosion shot from the bunker is the best choice include: the classic fried egg landing, when the ball is completely buried, and of course, those front bunker shots where the hole is too close on the other side.

Here are the basic, fundamental moves to playing the explosion shot:

1) The number one goal and primary focus of the explosion shot is to dig the club down into the sand. For those of you that have practiced the splash shot, you will notice that this goal of digging the club down with the explosion is the exact opposite motion.

Think of the clubhead like a shovel, digging underneath (and behind) the ball for a quick, forward-traveling amount of sand to help lift the ball up and towards the green.

2) Always do your best to play the explosion shot from a square stance. You want the clubface to be square to the target line, therefore, if you open up your stance as you would when initiating a splash shot, you may end up leaving the ball in the bunker or yanking it wildly to the left.

3) When playing this shot you want to lean your body in towards the target. When you set up to the ball, place most of your weight on the left leg. You should feel as though your head is ahead of the ball. Keep these two feelings throughout the entire swing.

4) Forget the follow through. When playing the explosion shot properly, and in the right circumstances, you really should not have the room for a follow through due to the angle of the club when it strikes the sand.

5) Position the ball as far back as you can right along the inside of the right shoulder. This tip is important because you want the club to come into the ball at a very steep angle. And the deeper buried that the ball is, the farther back in your stance you will want it during address.

6) Choose the right club. The best club to use for the explosion shot is a personal choice on your part. Keep in mind that the deeper the ball is buried in the sand, the harder it is to get the sand wedge far enough down in order to bring it up. Some players choose the pitching wedge. You could even give the 8 iron or 9 iron a go, depending on how far you want the ball to roll once it lands on the green.

This is the type of shot that separates the good players from those that obviously do not put forth the effort into improving their short game, thus showing no improvement in their score.

Those players that treat every sand shot like an explosion can be seen every day on golf courses around the world. These are the players who, every time their ball lands in the bunker, choose to explode the ball out of the sand without even a thought to the most effective (yet harder to master) splash shot.

One of the primary mistakes golfers make when gearing up for a shot is using the feet as a reference point. On just about every shot in golf this is the wrong thing to do, and this rule is no different when setting up for the splash. This is because the width of your stance varies according to the type of shot you play, so you should continue to use your body as the main reference point, not the feet.

In the case of today's lesson in executing the splash shot, you will want to specifically use your chest as the main reference point in addition to playing the ball forward in your stance. A great starting point would be somewhere about equal to the left armpit. Adjustments can be made as you go along.

Your choices here are limited to only two types of shots – the splash or the explosion - but surprisingly most of you are probably taking the wrong swing. You should, at all times possible, be utilizing the splash shot, but most golfers choose the latter, thinking that every sand set up was meant to be an explosion shot.

The truth is that the splash is the very type of shot that your sand wedge was built for. It just takes practice in order to use it successfully. Any club can be used to knock an explosion shot, which may get the ball out of the bunker, but how far it gets towards the hole is just a matter of luck, not skill.

The splash shot requires the club to lightly deflect off of the sand immediately after moving through the surface. The basic idea when coming up behind and under the ball is to skim through the least amount of sand possible. To the player that is not skilled enough to work with the splash, exploding the ball is the safest route. But in your case, however, you have made the decision to step up your game and break new boundaries.

The first rule in becoming a better splash shot golfer is to learn how to trust the sand wedge. The design of this particular club was made for a reason. At first, if you are not used to playing this shot, you may want to use a sand wedge that carries more bounce than most. As you become better you can move onto one that has less bounce.

The reason why you will want a club with less bounce as your skill level progresses is because, as you get better, you will want the club to start hitting the sand closer and closer to the golf ball. In any case, when learning how to trust your sand wedge, you will have to depend on the club to deflect up on its own when it hits the sand.

When playing the ball from the bunker you have two basic approaches to take to best handle the sand: a) The splash shot or, b) The explosion shot.

You may or may not have heard of the terminology here but it is important to become familiar with each shot if you are to improve your score. All golf players who have ever had the joy of starting as a newbie, then breaking 100, then down to the 90's, and even lower – all have had to specifically improve various parts of the short game, especially when hitting from the sand.

Both types of sand shots can be tweaked to various degrees in order to get the desired length and height on the ball that you want. Splash shots can also have the spin you may need on the ball. But forget about spinning the ball on an explosion shot that has it resting in a buried lie.

How To Know Whether To Splash The Ball Or Take The Explosion Shot

When your ball has decided to take a trip into the sand and you must choose what type of shot to take, the first rule is simple: Always take the splash shot if at all possible.

This is one of the most common mistakes golfers make who cannot seem to lower their overall score - once the ball hits the sand they treat every one of these shots as an explosion.

You are probably one of these players. For some reason, it got into your head that at anytime the ball hits the bunker the only way to knock it out is to explode it. It's a common issue, and one that I personally experienced some years back.

I suspect that your reason is the same - which is that you just have not taken the time to practice the proper technique that a splash shot requires, not to mention the patience needed to make it work when you want to.

Explosion Shots May Be Easier To Play, But Not Always The Best One To Take

There is no denying that trying to explode the ball out of the sand is a much easier route to take, but is it always the best?

Not at all - because by relying entirely on the explosion shot all you have on your side in getting the ball as close to the hole as possible is luck. Luck is for beginners, not those of you trying to improve your strategy and break new scores.

So what makes the splash shot so special? Why take the time to learn it and acquire the patience to become good at it?

The reason is simple: This shot enables you to limit how much sand gets in the way of the ball and your clubface. In turn, you have the ability to control the shot better and induce the spin you need. The more sand that is dug up (as with the explosion shot), the more limited your control over the shot is.

Forget Everything You Ever Learned About Golf, Really and check out this Golf Swing Tip!

You may have heard of this swing tip before, but it's worth repeating until you actually “get it”. I'm talking about playing the game in your subconscious. This is the underlying trick that all professional golfers know and practice.

How Does It Work?

Each and every time you swing the club, no matter what type of shot it is, the only thought you should have in the front of your mind is the target. Keep in mind, however, that at this point you should have ran through your set up, made a few practice swings, got rid of the yips, calculated your variables and percentages, etc.

When it is time to make your swing all of these variables should be forgotten with nothing but supreme focus on your target. Now the subconscious takes over and it is in the subconscious where the mind develops and ties together all of those skills you have been learning up to this point.

Turn Your Mind Off

This is the part that many new golfers find tricky - how do you turn the mind off and play golf subconsciously? The answer to that question is very simple: think like Forrest Gump!

In this movie, Forrest Gump was a huge success at everything he did, and he accomplished these things without over-thinking anything.

Now I realize that the movie is an unrealistic series of events for just one man to experience, but the lesson is the same. Do you think he over-analyzed his football games or his ping pong shots? No - he just went with the flow.

Every player has his or her own way of tuning out all of the golf lessons, variables, and the percentages when its time to swing that club. Some people use breathing techniques. Others simply swing a few practice swings. Many golfers prefer to sit perfectly still and focus all of their energy on the target.

It is important that you find find a technique that works for you. Quieting your mind is not a hard task, yet takes discipline and practice. This can serve you tremendously over the long-term in golf by building up your self-confidence going into every shot, which is, of course, the fundamental difference between a professional golfer and those of us still trying to tap into our subconscious power.
